Newport Beach – Attractions

Even though Newport Beach has many attractions, one of the most popular is the beaches. There are
beaches on the peninsula and in Corona del Mar. On the peninsula, there is the infamous spot “The Wedge”, which is great for body surfing.

From the Balboa Peninsula to Avalon, there is the Catalina Flyer. This 500 passenger giant provides the daily transportation. For residents, the Flyer is the preferred means of transportation.

The Balboa Fun Zone is a great attraction as well, offering a ferris wheel, merry-go-round, bumper cars, and several shops and restaurants. Located on the Balboa Peninsula, the Fun Zone is great for kids.

The island of Balboa is actually an artificial island found in Newport Harbor. The island was dredged and filled shortly before World War 1. Between the island and the peninsula, the Balboa Island Ferry works to transport pedestrians and their belongings.

Newport Beach also offers a wildlife sanctuary, known as the Back Bay. Nearby, Fashion Island helps to provide shopping experiences for those who like to shop and splurge.

For many reasons, Newport Beach is very worthy of a visit or a vacation. Even though it’s one of the undiscovered treasures of California, there is plenty to be found here. If you’ve been looking for an area with lots of attractions, look for further than Newport
Beach.

How to Air-Travel with Tools

Are you a handyman by trade? If so, it is likely that you have grown accustomed to carrying your tools around with you, wherever you go. In fact, there is also a chance that you may need to travel with them. Whether you are traveling for business purposes or not, it is important to know that the airline industry as a specific set of air travel rules concerning tools. If you are planning on bringing your tools along with you, you will want to take the time to familiarize yourself with these rules. Doing so may prove helpful, in more ways than one.

Before examining the tools that are not allowed aboard an airline and those that are, it is important to know one thing, there are different types of rules. Most airlines do not strictly prohibit you from carry tools with you, but they do restrict you from carry them at certain times. For instance, you will find that a large number of tools can be stored in your checked baggage, but they are prohibited from being stored in your carry-on luggage. If, at anytime, you are confused about these bans, you are advised to contact your airline for additional information.

One group of tools that are banned from carry-on luggage includes sharp objects. With the recent focus on airport security, you should already be well aware of this type of ban. Saws, saw blades, drills, and box cutters are banned from all airplane cabins. Essentially, this means that you cannot store these items in your carry-on luggage; however, they can be packed in your checked baggage. Since all baggage, including the bags that you do not plan on keeping with you at all times, needs to be searched, you are advised to properly secure these tools. Not doing so may result in an air airline employee receiving an injury that could have been prevented.

In addition to tools with sharp edges, there is also a carry-on luggage ban on tools that could be used as a deadly weapon. These tools include axes, hatchets, cattle prods, hammers, and crowbars. This ban is mostly imposed due to the size and weight of these items. As with most other tools, the airline industry will allow you to store these heavy tools in your checked baggage.

Although it may seem as if all tools are banned from your carry-on luggage, that is not the case. There are a number of tools can be stored in your carry-on luggage. These tools commonly include screwdrivers and pliers. Additional tools may also be allowed, but they must not have been mentioned above. It is also required that these tools be no more than seven inches long. In the event that they are longer than seven inches, you will have to make additional accommodations.

Despite the fact that certain tools can be stored in your carry-on luggage, it may be a good idea to put these items in your checked baggage or leave them at home. Even though these items are allowed, you may raise suspicion from having them with you aboard a plane. That suspicion may not necessity come from airport security officials, but it may come from other passengers. With the way that the world works today, it may be best if you refrain from including these tools in your carry-on luggage, unless you absolutely need them.

New York Restaurant Guide

Whether you would like to have a taste of New York dining or build your own swanky restaurant, one fact remains: New York City is the place to be if you desire gastronomical pleasure.

New York is a lot of things to a lot of people. Some consider New York, albeit a bit ethnocentrically, as the center of the world. To others, however, New York is just one of the most expensive cities to live in. For some, New York would always be a tragic reminder of the September 11 tragedy. But to food connoisseurs, New York would no doubt claim a place in their hearts forever.

Whether you find yourself downtown or in one of the small unknown streets of New York City, there’s no doubt that you’ll be able to find whatever it is that you’re looking for, may it be Japanese sashimi, Italian risotto, English pudding, Spanish paella, genuine larger than life American burgers…you name it, at least one restaurant in New York would definitely have it. The only worry you’d problem yourself with is which restaurant you think would best cater to your taste buds and of course, which restaurant can your pockets afford.

But fortunately for you, New York truly has just about everything under the sun. From the amazingly cheap value meals to the downright expensive gourmet dishes, New York restaurants certainly can boast to have it all.

But enough with the claims; this article aims to back up everything with proof. We’ve recently read reviews about the New York restaurant scene and came across with several delightful restaurant finds. So read on and we hope that you encounter a restaurant to your liking!

Harlem Grill : this restaurant consistently grabs a spot in any Top 10 New York Restaurants survey. And certainly there’d be no doubts in your minds why the moment you a) catch a glimpse of the place and b) take a bite of any of the sumptuous feasts they offer. Owned by Tony Nominee and actor Keith David, Harlem Grill is making great waves in the restaurant scene and would no doubt continue to do so. The Harlem Grill is located at 2247 Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard, incidentally also where another famous restaurant, Wells, once stood.

Michael Jordan’s The Steakhouse NYC : If you’re a great fan of the basketball legend then you surely must have heard of this place. And if you had but you still haven’t taken time to check it out then you are certainly no fan of Michael Jordan. With an interior that practically has Michael Jordan’s sense of style stamped all over it and a menu that could please even the snobbiest of food critics, a visit to New York wouldn’t be complete without grabbing a bite in this restaurant. The Steakhouse NYC can be found on the North and West balconies of the Grand Central Terminal.

Teodora : If you’re out to impress your date with a beautiful romantic dinner in New York then you must be looking for a place exactly like Teodora. After all, Italians are renowned for their passion, ardor and pasta so it’s no surprise that when it comes to building restaurants with heartbreakingly romantic ambience, it’s also Italian restaurants that set the bar. Teodora is located at 141 East 57th Street, New York City.

Las Vegas Hotels: Hilton

The Las Vegas Hilton is one of the more luxurious offerings on the Vegas Strip. This hotel has a lot to offer its guests by way of luxury and amenities including several packages that are amazingly generous by comparison to most other hotels along the strip. If you aren’t seeing a package that is appealing to you be sure to call and see if you might be able to negotiate a more suitable package.

In addition to world class accommodations and a fully functional casino the Las Vegas Hilton also has some of the best shows running along the strip. Current acts include the likes of Barry Manilow and Menopause the Musical. Future acts include big names such as Johnny Mathis and the Asian Fusion concert series.

Perhaps the most famous attraction at the Las Vegas Hilton however is the Star Trek Experience. The experience is completely out of this world and will have you flying through space in a completely immersive experience that even those who weren’t serious fans of the show can appreciate. This is like nothing you’ve ever experienced before or are likely to enjoy again. There is also a museum that is home to many items from the television series as well as the movies. This is a great addition to your vacation experience even at the rather hefty price tag it commands ($34.99 for adults and $31.99 for children as of this writing and subject to change). If you’re going to splurge on one thing during your stay at the Las Vegas Hilton I highly recommend that this be that one thing. There is also the Nemesis Package, which will allow for a reduced rate when purchasing tickets for the Star Trek Experience along with a two-night hotel stay.

Keep in mind if you’re actually coming to Las Vegas for the gambling and not to go Trekking through the galaxy, the casino offers tournaments rather regularly and you should really check to be sure there isn’t a tournament that interests you during your stay or around the times you are considering your stay.

It is fairly safe to say that while there are many fun things to do in Vegas these hotels and casinos would really appreciate your business in the casino seats rather than watching the shows, riding the rides, and playing the games.

The Las Vegas Hilton also has a full service spa and offers some attractive spa packages to its guests. You’d be doing your body a favor to check out the many packages that are available and combining them in order to get the maximum value for your spa dollar along with your spa visit. You might also consider trying to work a spa comp into your package when booking your room. You’ll never know unless you ask.

There is all manner of shopping at the Las Vegas Hilton and you should be able to find nice gifts for others as well as a few nice gifts for yourself. If you don’t find what you’re looking for here you are close enough to other shopping opportunities, if you drag yourself away from the spa that is that it’s no serious problem to go out and find those perfect gifts, trinkets, and tokens of your good time while visiting Las Vegas. Of course, you simply must visit the Barry Manilow store while you’re here and have fun playing with all the nifty toys inside. You also never know when you’ll find that perfect gift for friends and family and this store may be the ideal place to look.

If you’re looking for a completely luxurious experience for you stay in Las Vegas there are few places that will suit you better than the Las Vegas Hilton. The good news is that you can arrange for your luxurious treatment to be had at a fraction of the price it would cost elsewhere if you pay careful attention to the specials that are available and book accordingly.

Paris Basic for Travelers

Paris is located on an island in Seine called Ile de la Cite.  Lie de la Cite served as the headquarters for the Paris tribe during the 200 B.C., known as Lutetia.

The Roman Empire was attached with 2 wooden bridges crossing the river between the island to the river left and right. The bridges caught Julius Caesar attention, which he in turn brought it to the Romans attention.  Julius Caesar explained how the Gallic War burned the bridges in the 52 B.C. and along with all the attractions in this town on the island in Seine called at this time Lutetia.

It took nearly a century to build Lutetia in a town.  Only one thing, the island continued flooding so badly the water forced many of the people to move to the Left Bank of the river.  More people were forced to move to safety, going to the surrounding hills when the Barbarians attacked in A.D. 200.

Over the next 50 years, the Christian communities moved in.  During this time the city was blessed with it’s first bishop known as St. Denis around 250.

During the same time, that the Christian communities were moving in the Roman Empire’s political power started growing. The Roman Empire political powers started building up the cultural and religion became stronger. With the cultural and the religion growing it connected to the bishops making Rome stronger yet.

The Roman armies dropped in count during the 400’s when the Germanic tribes took over the island. At this time a Frankish-Latin to form, a union and they started making the town grow. The first Frankish King grabbed up the Christianity as his tribe’s religion.  The King then encouraged the Parisian to place names like Paris.

The Carolingians stepped in during the 800’s and replaced the Merovingians.  The Carolingians were than crowned having the supreme power and rank over Western Germany and Eastern France.  Paris was never it’s capital.  The City was known as the commercial and religious center in memory of St. Genevieve.  St. Genevieve protected Paris when attacked by the Huns in the final days of the Roman Empire.

Paris became known to rule the power at the end of 987 when the empire split. The split was because of the large growth and became the modern France and the modern Germany.

The saying “There is never any ending to Paris, and the memory of each person who has lived in it differs from that of any other.” Your personal discovery is the most compelling reason to visit Paris.

Today Paris is so compact with 2.5 million in population that it has been divided into 20 sections.  Each section has it’s own mayor, city hall, police station along with their own post office.

The river that runs through Paris is the Seine River. The Right Bank is on the north and the left bank streaming south.  There are 32 bridges crossing the river with two small islands at the end of some of them.  Ihe island of Ile de la Cite is the cities birthplace and the home of Notre-Dame.  Ile St-Louis island is the second island and it is the home of many 17th century mansions.  The bridges will give walkers access to these islands and at the end makes things look like a maze with narrow streets and old buildings.

Visiting Paris can be very educational.  You’ll discover many old and new things on your vacation. In addition, Paris has a wide selection of fabulous dinners where you will enjoy a tasty meal after visiting many areas around the beautiful streets of Paris.

Choosing Paris Attractions

This article is patterned for all you history buffs with insight that opens your mind to all areas of life, including visiting the grave. If you are interesting in learning and reliving Paris’s uncivilized history, and don’t mind visiting the dead, you must check out Paris’s Les Catacombs. The tunnels are not suited for everyone, only for those with an open mind to see what it is like to walk in the grave and visit the dead. The tunnels have a disturbing, yet unique pattern of bones and skulls, fashioned to bring the dead back to life.

Some people feel that visiting Les-Catacombs in Paris is a waste of time. Yet, the Opinionists fail to realize that historical buffs see things in a new light. At Les-Catacombs, you will pay an entry fee of five French dollars.

Areas around Paris, during the late 1800s discouraged the average person, since its history of overpopulated cemeteries and deceased souls made the area, one of Paris’s uncivilized environments. The area was filled with filth. For this reason the councils of the Parisians transferred the deceased to the tunnels of Les-Catacombs. In this, tunnel the bones of millions of dead souls rest. Parisian counsels of France transferred the bones, piling them in various areas around the tunnel. The skull of these dead people are piled in areas of the tunnel, and put together in reverse/front fashion. The bones are disturbing to many, since these dead peoples structures were fashioned in a way that it appears as faces and transverse structures, i.e. in the shape of crosses.

Throughout the tunnels are spiral stairways. Once you begin walking down the stairs, you will spot eye sockets of the deceased. The tunnels become present as you continue down the stairs. As you continue down the stairs and into the dirt tunnels, you are approaching the graves of many deceased souls, which at this point you cannot turn back. Since underground tunnels and graves are chilling you, want to make sure that you wear proper attire to keep you warm. Keep in mind you will get residue of the deceased on you. If this bothers you, perhaps you can wear attire that shields your clothes and flesh.

Throughout the walk, you will notice the walls. The walls are filled with plagues, yet observers say that the information is written in French. This makes sense, since the tunnels were designed in the 1800s. In view of the fact, you may want to learn a bit of French before visiting the tunnel. Ultimately, if you have a French interpreting, or friend who speaks French, take him/her with you.

NOTE: Because people have stolen bones from the tunnels, as you return to the starting point, the staff will inspect your bags.

How to decide if Les-Catacombs is right for you or your children:

Les-Catacombs is not intended for people who fear closed areas, underground arenas, etc. If you have claustrophobia, perhaps you would enjoy visiting other attractions in Paris instead. Children into history, or intending to prepare a future in science, etc, may enjoy this experience, however most will feel threatened by the environment. Take care to consider your children’s likes, explain first to them what they will visit, and ask the children if this is something they want to see.

The experience for children could be a learning experience that opens their eyes to the reality of death and graves. If your children cannot handle this however, or have emotional reactions easily, visit other attractions in Paris.

Where is Les-Catacombs located in France?

Les-Catacombs is at the first Place, Denfert-Rochereau. The tunnels are open Tuesday through Friday between 2pm and 4pm. On Saturday and Sunday, the tunnel is open from 2 pm to 4 pm also.

Travel Photography - Choosing a Camera

One of the most popular uses of personal cameras is taking photographs while traveling. Tourist attractions and beautiful, but foreign scenery are both good candidates for vacation shots. Taking photographs while on the move is a great way to capture the moments for later.

When choosing a camera for travel photography, there are several features to consider.

Firstly, the camera should be easy to both use and carry. A large multi-function camera may be good for professional photography, but makes for unwieldly vacation photography. A compact digital camera is a good choice.

Secondly, the camera should not be too expensive, because luggage often gets displaced on a vacation. A cheap entry level digital camera can easily be replaced if it gets lost for some reason.

Finally, the features should be good for travel photography. A large memory card to hold all the photographs is a must. Also, a fast camera allows snapshots with action. Both of these features can be found in compact digital cameras that are not too expensive.

Proud Photography is the top online photography school, featuring interactive lessons and in depth training. Their online photography school has the best value for price found online. All that is covered by a 100% money back guarantee.

The last time new He-Man video was seen was in 2002, when the remake of the original He-Man television series aired for two seasons. That series was animated, just like the original tv series of the eighties.

Lanzarote: Best Beaches - Lanzarote Hits Top List

Just a hundred miles from the coast of Africa, Lanzarote is one of the most popular islands for European holidaymakers, not just for the traditional summer weeks but for winter too, as the weather for the island - often in the 70’s even in December and January - make it the ideal destination for tourists from Northern Europe to head to to escape the winter blues.

And being able to relax on the beach and catch some rays over the Christmas and New Year festivities is enough in itself to tempt many to take a holiday in Lanzarote then.

But now a leading internet site has confirmed what many holidaymakers to Lanzarote already knew - that not only are the beaches great but one Lanzarote beach ranks among the best in the world.

The site points out that while Lanzarote is just a hundred miles off Africa, it is Spanish, and describe the locals as ‘passionate‘.

And of Lanzarote’s 90 beaches they say the best one, which ranks among the best in the world, is on the south of the island, at Caleta del Congrio, with an 87 per cent privacy rating.

They also suggest that those who like wind surfing should head for a different Lanzarote beach - the four mile long Famara Beach.

Other areas that were in the top beach list include Barbados, Turkey, Paros in Greece, Loreto in Mexico and Malibu in California.

World class beaches and water sports aren’t all that await Lanzarote tourists though. Puerto Del Carmen for example, which is one of the island’s most popular towns for holidaymakers, is a hub of excitement for many family activities.

And if the Lanzarote tourist is looking for a sports filled holiday rather than a family one, Puerto Del Carmen offers sports enthusiasts a wide range of activities. Locally owned diving shops often take tourists on amazing underwater adventures to various places around the island. Diving schools are available for those who wish to learn to dive or snorkel.

Windsurfing, swimming, boating, jet skiing and paragliding are also very popular water sports enjoyed by many locals and tourists. Sports enthusiasts also can enjoy golfing, cycling, running, hiking, camping and other local activities, including the Ironman competition.

Costa Teguise, another area favored by tourists taking holidays in Lanzarote, is the smallest of the three large resorts on the island. It is about 6 miles northeast of the capital city Arrecife. The entire resort is built on former lava fields and saltpans. The resort consists of several apartment blocks, bungalows and villas. Primary attractions are the golf course, a marina, commercial shops and entertainment. Many visitors enjoy the water park in the outskirts of the resort.

Playa Blanca is a quieter area of the island, and often preferred by those who take their Lanzarote holiday in a villa rather than in a hotel.

Once a small fishing port. Playa Blanca is very popular with families due to its size and many family friendly beaches. Two more beaches were recently added to Playa Blanca to help make up for the lack of space on the main central beach. Along the well maintained and manicured streets there are several shops, restaurants and clubs. Lanzarote’s Playa Blanca offers many sports and attractions for tourists of all ages.

But above all, if Lanzarote should be a magnet for any particular type of tourist, it has to be the beach lover - there’s 90 to choose from including one of the best in the world today!

Late bookings for Lanzarote holidays can see the prices come down, and often their are both cheap Lanzarote flight offers at yourlanzarote.net and vacations too.
Other information from the Lanzarote guide includes a climate guide and the weather in Lanzarote.
